The MIT professor and there team developed a rechargeable lithium ion battery which are as long fiber which could be woven into fabrics. These battery are rechargeable that can be woven and washable. It could be provide power for fiber based electronic device and sensor. This battery have enable to handle the wide variety of electronic devices. It also used to make 3D printed battery in any shape.
The research team has looking forward to develop something different which are self powered communication, sensing and computational device.
Team has given a concept with profe behind the new battery technology which can be produce world’s longest flexible fiber battery. This battery are 140 meter longer.

The process to made this type battery has been describe on December 20,2021. The articles realated to this can be published in Journal Materials today. From MIT post doc that is Tural Khudiyev which is now a assistant professor at National Institute of Singapore and former MIT postdoc Jung Tae Lee, which are now professor of kyung Hee University and Benjamin Grena SM 13 (post on currently in apple) can lead the author of paper. Also have some other co-author from MIT professor Yoel fink, Ju Li and John joannopoulos and some seven member from MIT and elsewhere.
how the structure of new fiber battery form??Â
New fiber battery are made by using novel battery gel and standard fiber drawing system which is in form of larger cylinder, its contain all components. This battery heated just below it’s melting point. The material design in compressive form through a narrow opening , the all part of the component can compress of their original diameter, while maintaining all the original management.
While the another researchers Khudiyev says, that structure of fiber battery are made by special key material where cover the inner side by lithium and outer part cover with special protective coating material. The main aims to form this type are to stabilize and waterproof version of battery. He says that this is the first method who demonstrate that sub kilometre long fiber battery which is sufficient for long and high durable application.
They were able to form a 140 meter long fiber battery which shoe that there are no limitations of length. The new fiber battery are Li-Fi communication system. In this system include the light which help to transmitted the data also includes the microphone, pre-amp, transistor and diodes for established the optical data link between two woven fiber device.
Khudiyev says, when embedded the active material inside the fiber, the sensitive battery components act good sealing and all the active material are well integrated so it cannot change it’s position during the drawing position.
The researchers says that 140 meter fiber produce so far as there storage capacity of 123 miliampere per hour, which can charge smart watch and phone. The thickness of fiber device are only few hundred microns and also thinnest then pervious device.
According to Lee, it says that tge main advantage of this is we can connect multiple devices in individual fiber. He demonstrate the integration of LED and Li- ion battery in single fiber device. Also he can believe that in future we can added three or four device combined in such a small space. When this technology get advance which connect Multidevice, this aggregate will advance the realization of compact fiber computer. While added the individual one dimensional fiber, which can be woven to produce two dimensional fabrics, this process can used in 3D printing.
